Heritage of Bel-Air nurse receives national award
Deb Langenberg of Hoskins received the PointClickCare Nurse of the Month award for August. She is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who has been working at Heritage of Bel-Air for the last 45 years.
Langenberg started as a volunteer in Heritage of Bel-Air’s kitchen when she was just 14 years old. After receiving her LPN license, she became a charge nurse and later moved into a leadership role as Bel-Air’s MDS coordinator.
“We are not surprised at all that Deb was recognized nationally for her efforts,” said Staci Kolm, Bel-Air’s Director of Nursing. “She is a shining example of living out our mission, vision and values every day. She truly has a heart for service, and we couldn’t be prouder.”
PointClickCare is an electronic health record technology firm that accepted nominations for the national award and dubbed 2020 “The Year of the Nurse.” Part of Langenberg’s nomination states, “Deb’s an all-around magnificent nurse – advocating for those that can’t for themselves. Highly skilled knowledgeable, compassionate and al lifelong learner always seeking new methods to improve healthcare in our facility.”
Langenberg was featured in the PointClickCare blog at https://pointclickcare.com/blog/culture/a-most-humble-august-nurse-of-the-month/. COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the PointClickCare conference where Langenberg was to be honored in person.
Langenberg said that even after 45 years on the job she still learns something new every day.
“I like the everyday challenges,” she said. “There’s always something you can do to make a resident’s life better. I just love the people.”
